EmilyEmily Lerer is a Los Angeles based film maker, theater director and teaching artist hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio. Lerer is new to sunny Southern California from a three year stint in New York City.

She has a passion for developing new works and re-imagining the classics. Recently she assistant directed a new short “Surrender Dorothy” and wrapped ABC’s Galavant as a post production assistant. During her time in New York, Emily commissioned R Culture a new play by Cecilia Copeland exploring rape culture in our culture Off Broadway Other theater projects include: “In the Air Tonight” with The Complete Theater Company. She adapted a production of Julius Caesar with six company members “And All of Us Fell Down”. She is a Directing Company Member of New York Madness.

Her work has been performed at Cherry Lane Theater,  C.O.W. Theater,  TheaterLab and Ensemble Studio Theatre. Emily has taught classes and developed curriculum for Yellow Springs Kids Playhouse, Caravan of Yogis and Camp Ramah in the Poconos. She has worked for Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, The Soho Playhouse and New OHIO Theater.
